A video released on Tuesday features prominent progressives calling for no political honeymoon for President Biden and his administration.
The #NoHoneymoon video includes appearances by such influential figures as scholar/activist Noam Chomsky; Carmen Yulin Cruz, former mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico; Texas populist Jim Hightower; ice cream entrepreneurs Ben & Jerry; and family medicine expert Dr. Victoria Dooley, who was a surrogate for the Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign.

In the video, former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich says: “There must be no honeymoon for Joe Biden because starting on day one, you and I and everybody else have got to mobilize and organize and put maximum pressure on the Biden administration. . . The window of opportunity is very, very short.”
Former senior AFL-CIO staffer and racial justice advocate Bill Fletcher Jr. declares: “We should have learned a lesson from the Obama-Biden years, believing that they were gonna be under a lot of pressure, so we should back off. It was the worst possible thing that we could have ever done.”
“We deserve health care, not just ‘wealth care’ in this world’s wealthiest nation,” says Dr. Dooley. She adds: “We deserve a guarantee of a better tomorrow, not just Status Quo Joe."
Hightower says: “The question is not whether Biden will produce the transformative change that America urgently needs. He won’t. Rather the question is how hard, far, and persistently we progressives will push him.”
The No Honeymoon campaign is sponsored by RootsAction.org, an activist group with 1.2 million online supporters in the United States. RootsAction has been vocal in opposing several Biden nominees and expected nominees, including Tom Vilsack as Secretary of Agriculture and Michèle Flournoy, who ended up not being nominated as Secretary of Defense.
