Video: Norman Solomon on government secrecy and democracy

This August, media critic and author Norman Solomon went to Oslo, Norway, to present 100,000 signatures to the Nobel Committee endorsing Chelsea (formerly Bradley) Manning’s nomination for this year’s Peace Prize. MEF’s Loretta Alper and Bill Dwight spoke with Solomon via Skype about why Manning deserves the Peace Prize, how government secrecy has accelerated under the Obama administration, and why whistle blowers and independent journalists are vital to a functioning democracy.
